Project Description:
The Gasteiner Ache River is subject to recurring flooding risks from river kilometer 13.5 to river kilometer 19.0. The present project (from permit application up to detail planning) contains the draft for flood protection measures up to the final implementation plan. In addition to the linear expansion measures, river construction interventions for the Gasteiner Ache River's highly regulated riverbed will be implemented. Developing methods to balance retention of the flooding areas eliminated by the flood protection measures in the residential area was a great challenge. An innovative surface management plan was designed with the aid of a geographical information system, which reflects the consequences for the property owners affected in the densely populated valley.
Balanced flood area cultivation was achieved by involving numerous greenland property owners, despite the significant intervention in the flooding image resulting from the flood protection dams in large-scale residential areas. A disadvantageous change in the flood wave at the end of the project was prevented. The expansion measures are to be assessed based on an event HQ100 = 250m³/s in the Gasteiner Ache River plus freeboard height.
Earthwork dams, flood walls, riverbed expansions and systems for backland drainage have been implemented.

Project Description:
It was necessary to develop a flood protection measure with controlled flood water resource management to decrease the flood peak by utilizing a retention system with 1.3 million m³ content capacity, further, increasing the cross-section flow from 40 m to 100 m by applying sensible river engineering methods in the water system. The riverbed development prognosis with a one-dimensional bed load model, as well as the planning collaboration with aquatic ecology and water resource management was an integral part of this project as well.

Project Description:
On the Saalach right river bank an earth-fill dam exists from river kilometer 15.1 to 17.0 to protect the city of Bad Reichenhall from flooding. The objective of the hydraulic construction planning (service phases 1-2 and 3-4) is to find engineering measures to redevelop the existing dam. The basic preparation includes the definition of a ground exploration program by defining the foundation ground reconnaissance program and the required laboratory tests to determine the geomechanical characteristics.
Based on a 2D -hydraulic model (HydroAS2d) alternative track routes for the flood prevention system are assessed in terms of consequences regarding water resource management; several experts support the planning team by analyzing environmental protection issues.
