Federal President Heinz Fischer, National Council President Doris Bures, Infrastructure Minister Alois Stöger, Vice Chancellor Reinhold Mitterlehner, Mayor Michael Häupl und ÖBB (Federal Austrian Railroad)-CEO Christian Kern, officially opened the new railway station in Vienna on October 10, Auxiliary Bishop Franz Scharl blessed the central railway station in place of Cardinal Schönborn who was attending a family synod in Rome. During the festivity speeches and honorable mention was made that the large-scale project was completed according to schedule, within the budget and without any scandals.
Thousands of Vienna's natives took the opportunity to get to know the new central train station by attending the grand opening ceremony festivities.
WERNER CONSULT was responsible for project management and project coordination, public relation activities, planning coordination in accordance with construction KG, railway planning, civil engineering statics and general planning in consortium in this project.

Austria officially took over the 2.000 m² property for its EXPO-pavilion on August 19, 2014. The pavilion will be located in close proximity to the two main-hubs of the EXPO site as the Italian and German pavilions. The main focus point of the Austrian project "Breathe Austria" is a 560 m² forest, which focuses on air as the primary nutrient. This "green lung" is surrounded by a multi-level pavilion constructed of wood and steel, which will serve as a platform for numerous economic and cultural initiatives.
WERNER CONSULT handled the process organization to obtain design suggestion for the Austrian presence at the Milan EXPO on behalf of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. The team "Breathe Austria", terrain architecture I, Prof. Klaus Loenhart won the competition. WERNER CONSULT was also contracted to manage the project.
The EXPO will be held from 05/01/ to 10/31/2015. The primary topic is "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life". Approximately 20 million visitors are expected throughout the duration of the EXPO.

Several WERNER CONSULT-employees met to participate in cart-race at Daytona Raceways in Langenzersdorf on July 1, 2014. After a brief introduction, they proceeded to the track for the qualifying process, which determined the start-grid. They fought hard but fair during the fifteen minute race and the lucky victors emerged. Markus Werner (1st place), Hermann Schütz (2nd place) and Márton Eördög (3rd place) made it to the podium.

The WERNER CONSULT Hydraulic Engineering department staff participated in the Lower Austrian water biathlon (Barge Race- and Running Competition) for the fifth time; this time with 4 teams of three, who participated based on the motto "being there is what counts". The young staff did not hesitate to leave their athletic department managers in the dust during the run.
