The groundbreaking ceremony on September 28, 2016 kicked off the conversion of the “longest straight route“ (approx. 32.5 km) in the Austrian Railway network. Converting the one-track diesel route to an electric high-performance route for continuous operation harbors a special challenge.
Therefore the project will be implemented in 3 modular phases:
Module 1a: Two-track, fully electric conversion in the partial Vienna segment from Stadlau up to the Vienna Aspern North stop
Module 1b: Segmental two-track expansion and electrification from Vienna Aspern North up to state border next to Marchegg
Module 2: Buildinga second tracks on the one-track Segments.
In this project WERNER CONSULT is responsible for the permit application process in collaboration with a planning team, and has been commissioned for the first ÖBA construction segment in collaboration with another work consortium.
